BLACK BEAR

If you live in Dog town here in Lilly and are wondering what happened to your bird feeders, well, Phil Andraychak caught a picture of an approximately 350 pound beer eating from his bird feeder last week. It was also in Jim Yinglings yard, so it apparently is visiting all the neighbors. As long as feeders are filled he will be back.

EASTER EGG HUNT

There was a very nice turnout of young children for the Lilly Library Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 19. The sunny skies and mild temperatures made for a nice afternoon get together. Easter Sunday was also a beautiful day. Finally the winter freeze is gone.

Terrence “Ted” Celestine McDermott passed away in a Winchester VA hospital on April 9th and was buried at St. Leo’s Cemetery in Inward West Virginia with full military honors presented by an honor guard from Andrews Air Force Base. He is survived by his wife Reiko, who he married 53 years ago, and these brothers and sisters who all grew up in Lilly: Colbert, Kiernan, Margaret, Mary Helen, Kathleen, Carol and Suzanne.

NEW DUGOUTS

If you have taken a walk or drive along Memorial Drive you would have noticed the ongoing construction of dugouts at the new little league baseball field. I give these volunteers a lot of applause for the effort they are doing for our community’s children.
