The annual War Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 25 at the Lilly field. This year is special as it marks 150 years since the end of the Civil War, 70 years since the end of World War ll and 40 years since our final withdrawal from Vietnam.

A plaque will be dedicated listing the 114 servicemen and one merchant marine who died while serving our country since the Mexican-American War of 1846-48 until present.

ST JOHN PAUL
The parishioners of Our Lady of the Alleghenies Church here in Lilly are commended for their very generous donation to the St. John Paul ll bust that will be placed in the garden of the John Paul ll Manor in Cresson that is run by the Sister Servants of the Sacred Heart. The Polish pope was loved very much by area residents, many with Polish and Slavish backgrounds.

UNITED METHODIST CLEANUP
If you travelled Route 53 since Saturday you would have noticed all the white, full, garbage bags along the road. Thanks to many parishioners from the Lilly United Methodist Church they cleaned up the 53 berm up to Mazur Motors and made the area look more wholesome. Now if the feral North Carolina pigs will just quit the littering it would be a true thank you to this group.

MOUNT GRADUATION
Graduation was held at Mount Aloysius College on Saturday, May 9. My daughter Catherine Nadolsky received her Bachelor Degree in Nursing. I am very proud of her.

HUMMINGBIRD
I finally noticed a hummingbird at my back porch feeder. The liquid is going down but I am not seeing them. Must be early morning feeders. The yellow birds, cardinals and sparrows also brighten the day.
