The Easter Church schedules for the Lilly churches are as follows: United Methodist Church will hold a combined Communion service on Thursday at the Wilmore Methodist Church at 7:00 PM. On Easter Sunday, April 5, there will be a 7:00 AM Sunrise Service at the Willow Street Church.

The Our Lady of Mount Camel National Catholic Church will hold a Holy Thursday Mass at 4:00 PM with a Procession to the Repository. On Good Friday there will be a 3:00 PM Veneration of the Cross, a Mass of the Presanctified and an Opening of the Grave. Holy Saturday will have a 2:30 Vigil Service and a 4:00 PM Resurrection Mass followed by Blessing of Easter Food Baskets. No Sunday Service.

Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church will hold a 7:00 PM stripping of the Altar at St. Luke’s on Maundy Thursday. On Good Friday at 2:00 PM the last segment of the Procession of the Cross will be held at First Lutheran Church in Portage. The Tenebrae, te Passion according to Saint John will be held at the Portage Church at 7:00 PM. On Saturday there will be an Easter Egg Hunt for children 11 and under at the First Lutheran Church in Portage. At 8:00 PM an Easter Vigil will be held at the Portage Church. On Easter Sunday there will be a 6:30 AM Sunrise Mass at St. Luke’s in Lilly followed by an Easter Breakfast. Those planning to attend the free breakfast are ask to call Reverend Palko at 886-2222 to help create an expected attendance count.
There will be a 9:00 AM Mass at the church in Portage. There will not be a 11:00 AM Mass at St. Luke’s on Easter.

At Our Lady of the Alleghenies Catholic Church there will be a Mass of the Lords Supper at 7:00 PM in the church followed by Visits to the Repository until 10:00 PM. On Good Friday there will be a Liturgical Service of the Passion & Death of Our Lord with Veneration of the Cross & Holy Communion Service at 1:30. On Holy Saturday there will be a Blessing of the Paschal Food Baskets at the Church at 2:00 PM. The Easter Vigil Service and Resurrection Mass will be held at 8:30 PM. Easter Sunday there will be a Mass at 8:00 AM in the Chapel and 10:00 AM in the Church.

The Lilly-Washington Public Library will be hosting their annual Easter Egg Hunt at the firemen’s pavilion at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 4 for children 11 years old and younger. Have the children bring a basket or plastic bags to gather eggs. Children are to gather, adults are to watch.

Also, the Lilly Library recently mailed their 2015 fund drive letter to residents of the borough and township. Be generous as they need your help. All the money blown by state government and yet they keep cutting away at the few bucks they dole out to the library system

Once again, the Lilly-Washington War Memorial Association is scheduling their spring cleanup of the field. Two weeks have already been cancelled due to adverse weather. The cleanup will be held at 8:00 AM April 4. Lend a hand for a couple of hours to make the field shine for spring baseball.

Today, April 2, is a busy day for the cake bakers as Carrie Myers, Ted Myers, John Skura, David Beck Sr., Isaac Eckenrode, Duane Misiura Sr., Shirley Przybyz, John Pyo , Patrick Shedlock and Christine Wheeler all celebrate birthdays as will Rita Klayko on the 3rd and John Bost, Howard McIntosh, Patricia Muldoon and Francis Risko on the 4th. On April 5 Matthew Nadolsky and Shane Hartline get to party as will Amy Davies on the 6th and Mary Kay Lukacs and Deborah Wilson on the 7th. Karen Claar observes her birthday on the 8th. If you got colored chicks and colored Easter bunnies at Easter time you are most likely an old timer. Enjoying them Easter Day was one thing, raising them was another.
