Lilly Lines by Jack Barlick 886-4694
Very sad week indeed- with the passing of Margie Wyandt who had been writing the Cresson News column for many years. She was often outspoken, which was good, and her pet peeves would always point out something that needed fixed. My sympathy is extended to all of her family and friends.

Sympathy is also sent to the family and friends of Mary Gall who recently died in Lancaster. Mary had lived on George Street as long as I can remember.

CHRISTMAS CARD
My sister, Monica, who lives less than a mile from me, sent a Christmas card to my house on December 22. Lo and behold! It arrived on February 18th. Just shy of two months in the postal system. The card’s envelope was stamped “Miss sent to Thailand” A 17,000 mile journey to go a couple blocks.

CHICKEN DINNER
Just a reminder that Our Lady of Mount Carmel church will be holding a stuffed chicken breast dinner this Sunday, February 22nd , from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the church hall on Hilltop Road. You can dine in for $9 or take out for the same price. Children can dine in for $4.50. Call 884-0205 for further details. This is a good dinner to enjoy in this cold weather.

WAR MEMORIAL
The Lilly Washington War Memorial Association mailed the annual fund drive appeal last week. Your support of this worthy organization is both crucial and important to the successful operation of the field that does so much for area children while bringing memory to those who died in the service.

The Lilly Conrad Chiropractic/ Lilly American Legion entry in the Altoona City League will play their home games at the Lilly field as they pursue their 12th City League Championship this summer.

I am anxious to see the townships completion of the recreation center/ pavilions and restrooms at the new Little League field. A refreshment stand is also being placed there to serve that field during home games. We will soon have a recreation area to envy by other communities. Wont be too long bfore the walking trail can get full use again. Come on Spring!

Just two days to Valentines Day. Don’t forget flowers, candy or jewelry for your sweetheart.

Lent is also just around the corner. It is time again for the regular Friday night fish dinners. Hope the snow is gone by Easter.

SYMPATHY
Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Luella (Claar) Keiser , a Lilly native, who passed away at the age of 104. She was a sister to the late Chalmer Claar Sr and Amy Bender
and resided in Lewistown.
Sympathy is also extended to the family and friends of LeeRoy”Skip” Lyle, who passed away recently. He had resided here in Lilly the past few years with his daughter, Lora Ingram, and was a US Marine veteran.

GOOD CITIZENSHIP
Maybe you noticed. Chad Pysher used his snow blower several times to open up the walking trail. This determined effort is usually futile with the strong winds blowing across the field making a swift demise of his work. Anyhow it wont be long you will be able to walk the trail without snow present.

THINK SPRING
Before we know it spring will be here. Now is the time to consider what flowers to plant to brighten your yards and the community this year. Also, those who have accumulated junk and debris in their yards should plan on cleaning it up. A well-kept yard reflects very well on the occupants.

OLDTIMER
You are an oldtimer if you bet on the first Super Bowl in 1965.
