WHITE CHRISTMAS
The weathermen have been predicting a white Christmas for over a week now. This will add to the splendor of the day and will really reflect all the beauty of the many Christmas decorations hung around town by our many neighbors. I enjoy riding around and observing all” the colors.

REFLECTIONS
For us elderly ones (or soon to be) thinking back on our childhood Christmases always brings fond memories to mind. I remember my dad always decorating the tree while mom baked our favorite rolls and ironed our cassock and surplices for the midnight Mass choir performance. Ron, Pat and I were all three in the choir. A trip to my Grandmother Mary Barlick’s was always in order early Christmas Eve for the annual Slovak dinner. That was a favorite family time. Vesele Vianoce!

My daughters, Jackie and Cindy along with granddaughter Kaylee Mento spent Sunday afternoon at my home putting up my Christmas tree and decorating inside my house. T’IS THE SEASON

The center of town looks great thanks to the efforts of Bill and Alb Claar, Bev Mandichak, Paul Sklodowski and others who prepared it for the upcoming holidays. The lollipop lites really add to the occasion as does the new Merry Christmas arch that just arrived on November 25 and was purchased through the generosity of donors to the Decorating Committee fund drive. The manger at the Lilly Bank reminds us of the holiness of the season.

The Saturday evening Christmas Lighting program on November 29 was very well attended. The temperature stayed above freezing making it easier for the public to enjoy the program. Santa arrived on the fire truck and I was told 48 dozen of cookies greeted visitors to see him at the borough building.

Almost 200 people from infants to elderly were able to enjoy a horse and sleigh ride provided by Misty Haven Stables. Ernie and his two white horses rode steady from 5:00 PM until 8:45 PM. Lilly even made Channel 6 News later in the evening displaying Lillys event and colors over western Pennsylvania.
