It seems like the leaves fell from the trees very fast this fall putting the woodlands into position to receive the upcoming snows that are predicted as I write this column, oh well, this elderly grizzly intends to hibernate most of the winter, the lower the temperature the lower are the odds of seeing me venturing out.

Granddaughter Kaylee Mento will be 10 years old in a few days and she already is writing a book about a fictional family at Christmas. I am so proud of her.

As Thanksgiving approaches next week keep in mind that Saturday evening at 7:00 PM will be the annual Lilly Christmas lighting at the Ambulance building. There will also be horse and sleigh rides going on from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Reservations for rides can be made at Galls Insurance Agency for $4 a person. You are becoming or are an old-timer if you remember walking on the newspapers to get an ice cream cone at the news stand.

Note: A co-worker with my daughter Jackie isn’t sure if she is an old-timer or not. I told Jackie to ask her is she went to Saint Brigids grade school If she did, she is an old-timer.

Take a ride around the community and enjoy the many homes lit up for the Halloween season.
Several favorites I have seen include the Halloween Dance in Ron Muldoons yard that was the colorful project of him, Judy and three of Rons sisters. Steve and Vicky Durkay did a very nice job of skeletal art in their yard and Kelly Sklodowski and Butch Gibbons made attractive home displays as did Paul Skldowski and Darnell Steberger. Many others also helped make the town look very nice.

There was a very nice turnout for the Halloween Parade here in Lilly on Sunday afternoon. Although the air was brisk the sun remained shining all afternoon and even while the ghosts and goblins plied the street of Lilly in search of candy treats. There were at least 210 Trick or Treaters on Piper and Harris Streets.
