Lilly Lines by Jack Barlick    886-4694

There was a very large crowd from Lilly and Portage at the War Memorial field on Saturday, September 28th. The season is winding down with one more home game expected. After that, War Memorial activities, other than ice skating, will become dormant for the winter. They have had a busy year.

The Southern Alleghany Emergency Medical Services Council held their annual board elections and dinner at the Cresson American Legion on Saturday, September 28th. About 150 people from the six counties comprising the group attended. The Cresson Legion Post was the host and provided a delicious dinner for those in attendance.

The Cambria Alliance EMS, of which Lilly is a part, was well represented. There was an awards ceremony following the dinner and Dr. John Karduck of Portage was recognized for his life time achievement. He has been instructing the paramedic program and providing medical command since 1976.

John “ Jack” Seymore of Cresson was honored for his forty years in EMS. He has been a paramedic and operations manager at AMED in Altoona since 1973 and also runs with the local Cambria Alliance EMS. Gerald Stevens, president of the Cambria Alliance, was recognized for his community service.

Drive by on the 5th or 6th and you may see the sculptor installing part of the main part of the miner memorial. Work is slowly progressing. Many name plagues were removed to have a protective coating applied and will be re-installed in the near future.

Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Anna Louise Gatto, of Ebensburg, who recently passed away. She was born in Lilly and graduated from the Lilly High School. Sympathy also goes to the family and friends of Air Force veteran William Neff who recently died. William was a son of the late Bill and Clara (Sweeney) Neff and also graduated from Lilly High. Another Air Force veteran, Walter Phillips also passed away. He was a Coupon native and resided in Moshannon. May they rest in peace!
