The leaves are turning color with the next couple of weeks to be a blaze of yellows, browns and orange leaves on the hillsides. Take a ride and enjoy them. The Amish farms are still open (except Sundays) down in Sinking Valley if you want farm fresh fruit and vegetables while enjoying the fall colors.

MINERS MONUMENT UPDATE
The new interlocking paver patio has been installed. The paver and installation materials were donated by Jim and Ellen Carruthers and Jim and Pauline Yingling. Jim Yingling also secured the services of Mark Farabaugh of Loretto who did the beautiful installation of the pavers without charge. ( Marks phone number is 312-4259 if you need a patio installed.) The new black benches in front of the monument were donated in memory of Jack & Anna Rae Phillips and Chuck, Jim and Cindy Cooney. So many people have helped to make this dream possible. The Historical Society is still looking for a sponsor for the Coal Miners Memorial Chapel plague honoring the 56 known miners who died from Lilly area mining accidents. Please call Jim Salony to discuss sponsorship details at 814-886-7282.
The sculptor will be back in town the weekend of October 5 to start on-site installation of the miner monument statue and background relief.
