The Lilly Washington Public Library is conducting their annual fund drive at this time. Please be generous with a donation as the library really needs your help. State and county funds have been drastically decreased the past few years.

The War Memorial Association will attempt to have Clean Up Day this Saturday starting at 8:00 AM. Anyone willing to help return the field to a pristine condition for the coming ball season is ask to help. Bring a garden rake with you if possible. This field is one of the jewels of the community and we are proud of it.

On March 30 the All Star North team defeated the All Star South team 112-111. A closely fought game!

Two Lilly young men; A.J. Leahey and Mac Behe played on the North team. Both are seniors at Penn Cambria and had a remarkable season being part of the team winning the District 6 Class 3 Championship. Great Job guys!

Before we know it the fishermen will be hitting the area streams as the first day of trout is April 13th. As some of the grandkids, especially granddaughter Kiera, want to go so I guess I will get a license this year.

Penn Cambria Seniors from Lilly and Washington Township are reminded to submit an essay in this years scholarship competition to the Lilly American Legion. The topic is “How I would attempt to solve the Federal deficit”.

These few nice days are sure good for a positive attitude. Now is the time to watch for the crocus, daffodil and tulip to sprout. The trees will soon start to bud. Time to end the winter hibernation.

It was brought to my attention it was Joe Archihosky, not Leo, as I called him in a recent article who was a butcher at the C.A. Hughes Company Store. Leo Goss was the manager.

You are an old timer for sure if you hanged out at Stineys Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street across from the former high school and you are really over the hill if you hung out at Marcella and Francis Bender Dairy Dell on Cleveland Street. It was also a bowling alley and poolroom and is now the Borough Building after being the VFW Post home for years.
