FOOTBALL A close game with Penn Cambria on the losing side against Cambria Heights on Friday, October 5. There was a very nice turnout of fans routing for their favorite team. The Piper Street gang, Nathan Keagy and Mac Behe along with my grandson Nathan Przybyz were in on a lot of the action. Heights won 27-20. Tomorrow is an away game at Forest Hills. Good Luck Panthers! The Panthers are 4-2 for the season so far.

WAR MEMORIAL At the Board of Directors meeting on October 5 the officers of the Lilly-Washington War Memorial Association were retained for the 2013 year. They are John Hurley, president; Dan Martynuska, vice president; Claudette Falger, secretary and Joseph Gides treasurer.

The field will close for the winter after the services on Veterans Day, November 11th. The group plans to have the ice skating rink in operation before the holidays. Volunteers to man the rink when it is in operation are welcome. Let John or Dan know if you are willing.

WEDDING Ian Barlick and Sarah James were wed at Saint Aloysius Church on Saturday, October 6th. A very nice reception was held in the evening at the Oriental Ballroom. The floral arrangements and bridesmaid flowers were of fall colors and the bridesmaids wore brown gowns. Sarah stood out with a dazzling white gown.

BAKE SALE The Knights of Columbus will be holding a bake sale at Our Lady of the Alleghenies Church Hall on Saturday the 13th from 3:00 PM until 5:00 Pm and on Sunday, the 14th from 7:30 AM until 12:30 PM. Stop in and buy some sweets for your Sunday enjoyment. It was nice to see all the young children enjoying the music and dancing.

BIRTHDAYS Celebrating birthdays today, October 11th are Bill Agosta, Michael McIntosh and Marion Zunich followed by Christopher Conrad and Paul Gates on the 12th . Then on the 13th it will be a busy day as Consiglia Martynuska, Francis Russian, Theresa Shedlock and Brock Talko all party. On the 14th Jamil Flores, Mary Puglise, Anna Sweeney and Stephanie Wheeler observe their special day as will Gerald Siedlarczyk, Ann Behe, Tyler Butterbaugh, Jessica Matcho, Paul Moyer, Benjamin Suchta and Irene Suchta all celebrate birthdays as will Daylon Behe, Fran Herschel, Tom Sibis and Daniel Siedlarczyk on the 16th and Justin Marinak, Eugene Miorelli, Tom Miorelli and Lily Poborsky on the 17th. Happy Birthday to All.

ANNIVERSARIES John and Pam Sanders celebrate their wedding anniversary today, October 11, followed by Ted and Leona George on the 14th and Bill and Sherry Agosta along with Scott and Nicole Poborsky on the 16th and Joyce and John Larue on the 17th. Happy Anniversary to each couple.

OLDTIMER Your becoming an oldtimer if you remember getting 5 cent ice cream cones at Rosie’s News Stand or shooting pool at Grover’s on your school lunch break.
